Philanthropy

At HCES, we take pride in giving back to the communities that poured into us. Our headquarter city, Atlanta, Georgia, has provided more opportunities than we could have ever imagined to thrive, support other organizations, and partner with other businesses. Without our CEO's hometown, Bainbridge, Georgia, and all who raised him, we would not be operative. Tallahassee, Florida, is the home of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, alma mater of our current full-time team. While these cities have received the bulk of our time and financial efforts, we have demonstrated excellence with caring across several other southern cities.

Events and Donations

Below is a summary of our philanthropic endeavors and collaborations since inception in 2021. This list is not exhaustive, as we have also contributed to several political campaigns with platforms intended to advance the health and well-being of its locale's citizens, as well as volunteered to host events, participated as panel experts, podcast guests, and much more!

Friends of FAM, Inc.,
Be Out Day Atlanta Events Sponsor

HCES was a significant sponsor of the 2023 Be Out Day Atlanta events, hosted by Friends of FAM. These family-friendly events bringing in Rattlers from around the country, all in an effort to raise scholarships for deserving students. Our contributions will support the scholarship gala, scholarship recipient brunch, and Be Out Day Atlanta. For the scholarship gala, we have partnered with Lyft to provide free rides to and from the event, as this is an adult-only, open bar festivity. At Be Out Day Atlanta, HCES will promote the prevention of heat-related illnesses by having several "cooling stations" throughout the outdoor event that offer water, fans, popsicles, and liquid IV.

Community Health Fair Presence

HCES was called upon to be a community vendor at the Florida A&M University health fair. The theme was "To Serve the Underserved" and our communications specialist, Ms. Amberly Williams proudly represented the organization at this event. In April, she also hosted our presence at Florida State University's Public Health Professions Conference.

This scholarship honors Liz Crowley, a long-time educator in Waterloo, Iowa. She served as the first principal at the Dr. Walter Cunningham School for Excellence and molded a positive and enthusiastic staff as she initiated innovative practices including a year-round calendar, same sex classrooms, enhanced parent commitment, and she implemented the first Waterloo "Leader In Me program." The late Mrs. Crowley was the mother of one of Dr. Brittny James' Spelman College scholars.

HCES was founded by and is fully staffed by proud alumni of The College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science, Institute of Public Health at Florida A&M University. On February 4, 2023, HCES conducted its first student-oriented symposium titled "Contract Chasing," which brought seasoned professionals and businesses to the highest of 7 hills to assist students with gaining access to the workforce through contract experience. Entailing a panel discussion, breakout sessions and a tabling session, the workshop curated a space to discuss consulting services and contractual work, as well as highlighted alternative employment opportunities to assist scholars with their transition to early career professionals.
